I make the choice to love my husband, even on days when we don't see eye to eye. What is funny, though, is that I don't feel like I have a choice when it comes to my children. I don't believe I could ever decide not to love them - it is automatic. However, sometimes I have to be purposeful about speaking to them in a loving voice, or responding to them in a loving manner. This is especially true after a long car ride when they have been talking nonstop and I am exhausted! I think it is beautiful how God creates a heart that interprets love in so many ways with so many different feelings. Like Patti said, I also believe love is a choice. I have heard that LOVE is a decision--a choice I make. I choose to LOVE God and follow Him. I also choose to LOVE my husband of 40 years. And, of course, I choose to LOVE my family--very easy for me. Then there's the scripture that says to love my enemies and to love those that persecute me. Ouch! I must always remember that in all circumstances LOVE is a decision! Most of all I agree that though not always easy, love needs to "remain" (much like God loves us even when we are undeserving) and so even when the world is not at it's best, I need to love.
